Barcelona Win Club World Cup

FC BarcelonaFC Barcelona won the 2009 Club World Cup final after a 2-1 overtime victory over Estudiantes of Argentina. Estudiantes led for most of the match on Mauro Boselli's 37th minute goal until Pedro equalized two minutes from time and Leo Messi got the winner in extra time.

 

The Club World Cup capped an incredible season for FC Barcelona in which they won every title available to them - La Liga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and now this. This was also the first World Club Cup title for the Catalans, who had also never won the Intercontinental Cup, the previous Europe vs South America matchup.

 

The tournament was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The previous editions had all taken place in Japan.
