Djurgårdens maintain place in Allsvenskan

Djurgardens IF LogoDjurgårdens IF maintain their place in Sweden's top-level Allsvenskan by virtue of a 3-2 aggregate victory over Assyriska. Assyriska won the first leg 2-0 but Djurgårdens won the return 3-0, the final goal coming with three minutes remaining in extra time.

 

The 2010 season will mark Djurgårdens IF's 10th consecutive season in Sweden's top tier and 55th overall. The Blåränderna are 8th in the list of most Allsvenskan seasons, a list topped by fellow Stockholm club (and 2009 champions) AIK.

 

Going down automatically this season were Hammarby IF and Örgryte IS with their places taken by Mjallby Solvesborg and Åtvidabergs FF.

 

Another Swedish club covered on Albion Road, Östers IF, won promotion from the third-tier Division 1 Södra and will compete in the Superettan in 2010.
