First set of Irish promotion playoffs complete

Football Association of Ireland logoThe first pair of promotion playoffs are complete in the League of Ireland setup, with the final matches coming up on Friday November 13th and Monday November 16th.

 

The first match was a "play-out" between Drogheda United and Bray Wanderers, a match Drogheda won 2-0 thus maintaining their spot in the Premier League. The second match was in the First Division, where the second and third placed clubs Shelbourne and Sporting Fingal played off to keep their promotion dreams alive. The boys from Sporting came out winners 2-1 away.

 

Based on those results Sporting Fingal and Bray Wanderers advance to a playoff for the 10th and final spot in the 2010 League of Ireland Premier Division. The matches will take place on November 13th and 16th, with Bray Wanderers hosting the first match.

 

League of Ireland Premier Division Play-Out:

Drogheda United 2-0 Bray Wanderers

League of Ireland First Division Play-Off:

Shelbourne 1-2 Sporting Fingal
