Gamba Osaka win Emperor's Cup in Japan

Gamba Osaka logoGamba Osaka defeated Nagoya Grampus Eight 4-1 in the final of the 2009-10 Emperor's Cup in Tokyo, Japan. This was Gamba's third time winning Japan's premier domestic cup competition and second in a row. The tournament launched in 1921 and has been contested more or less continuously ever since. The final is traditionally played on New Year's Day. Among Japan's professional clubs Urawa Red Diamonds and Yokohama F. Marinos have been the most successful, winning the title six times each.
