This is the successor to the original Foot Ball Club Treviso, founded on January 18, 1909.
Treviso were relegated to the third-tier Lega Pro Prima Divisione after the end of the 2008-09 season. Because of financial problems it was announced in July 2009 that Treviso would be excluded from the Prima Divisione and are officially being shut down. A new club named ASD Treviso was launched in July 2009 and will begin play in the 6th tier Eccellenza.

The stadium is named for a famous motorcycle racer.
