Description:

Founded in 1881 as multisport club Girondins de Bordeaux. Football section added in 1883. The second-oldest club in France. Merged with l'Argus Sport in 1919, and adopted that club's colors. Merged with Bordeaux FC in 1935. A Girondin is a person from Gironde, the department of which Bordeaux is the capital. Currently owned by the French TV network M6. Reached the UEFA Cup final in 1996.

The stadium (previously known as Parc Lescure) is named for a former mayor of Bordeaux.
