Description:

Founded on April 4, 1905. Estudiantes = students. Club was founded by a group of students in La Plata, who were dissident members of Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata. In 1935, Club Social La Plata is merged into Estudiantes. The club's red and white striped jerseys are a tribute to Alumni, a club which dominated the early years of Argentine football. In 1967, they became the first club outside of Argentina's 'Big Five' to win a title in the professional era. Jorge Luis Hirsch is a former club president.
