Description:Formed on July 1, 1964 as a merger between ARA Mouscronnois and Stade Mouscron. Both of these two clubs were formed in 1922. Royal is an honorary title given by the Belgian royal family to every club in Belgium after twenty-five years of existence. Les Hurlus nickname is a reference to the Gueux, a religious order that attempted to forcibly spread Lutheranism in Flanders in the 16th century. They originally met in the town of Mont-des-Hurlus. The Frontaliers nickname is a reference to Mouscron's location along the French/Belgian border. Matricule# 224. In December 2009 Excelsior Mouscron were expelled from the Belgian First Division for financial irregularities. It is unclear if they will be able to restart next season and keep their #224 matricule or if they must restart as a brand-new club. Stade Le Cannonier:
