Description:

Chivas USA were formed on August 4, 2004 by Jorge Vergara (owner of Mexican club Guadalajara) and business partner Antonio Cue (who serves as club president), in an effort to tap into that team’s fervent fan base in the US in general and the Los Angeles area in particular. They began play in 2005. The Mexican club are commonly known by the nickname Chivas (Goats), which has its origin in a disparaging newspaper article from the 1940s. The emblem and uniforms of Chivas USA mirror those of the Mexican club. The emblem incorporates the club name, the club colors and the coat of arms of the city of Guadalajara. The official name – Club Deportivo Chivas USA – translates as Chivas USA Sports Club and also mirrors the original. Matches with city rival LA Galaxy are known as the Super Clasico.

Home Depot Center:

Chivas USA play in the Home Depot Center, actually located in suburban Carson, CA.
