Description:

The New York Red Bulls were originally known as Empire Soccer Club but changed to the MetroStars moniker before the first ball was kicked, a reference to the club's base in the New York Metro area. Based on the expectation of the club being called Empire Soccer Club, the Empire Supporters Club evolved out of some earlier New York area fan groups - one from an older semi-pro team called the New York Centaurs and the second from an email list called MLS-NY. Prior to the 2006 season, the club was purchased by drink maker Red Bull and renamed the New York Red Bulls. The club's logo is based on that of the Red Bull drink, with the team name and a soccer ball added.

Giants Stadium:

They currently play in Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The club are currently building a new stadium in Harrison, NJ which is scheduled to open for the 2009 season.
