BK Häcken

Full Name: Bollklubben Häcken
City: Gothenburg
Founded: 1940
Stadium: Rambergsvallen (7000)
Colors: Black, Yellow

Official Website: bkhacken.se

Description:

BK Häcken were officially formed on August 2, 1940 although the group had been playing informally for several years before that. Häcken is Swedish for a hedge and the boys who formed the club took this name from a large hedge that grew around the field where they usually played. The full name translates as Häcken Ball Club.

The earliest years were good for Häcken as they climbed from the 8th to the 3rd division in just seven seasons. The following seasons were less successful as BK muddled along, bouncing between the third and fourth divisions before finally reach the Allsvenskan in 1983. Häcken just completed their eight season in the Allsvenskan, finishing in fifth place (their best ever).

BK Häcken organize the Gothia Cup, currently the world's largest youth soccer tournament.

Rambergsvallen:

The Rambergsvallen stadium is located on the island of Hisingen on the north side of the Göta älv river which flows through Gothenburg. There are plans for a reconstruction of the Rambergsvallen, removing the athletics track and rebuilding the stands closer to the field.
