Description:
Formed on March 12, 1912. Merged with Shipka Plovdiv in 1946 and with Stephan Karadjiev Plovdiv in 1947. Merged with Spartak Plovdiv and Akademik Plovdiv in 1967 to become Trakia Plovdiv. Returned to original Botev Plovdiv in 1989. Named in honor of the Bulgarian patriot Hristo Botev. The Kanarchetata (The Canaries) nickname is a reference to the yellow jerseys. Reached the European Cup Winners' Cup quarterfinal in 1963. Stadium has the nickname 'The College' as it was originally owned by Sveti Avgustin, a local Catholic college.
