Description:

Founded by workers of the Cruz Azul (Blue Cross) cement factory. Initially based in the state of Hidalgo, later moved to the capital. Turned professional in 1960 and joined the Mexican second division. The Maquina nickname comes from a particularly dominant stretch in the 70s, when they won six titles in ten years. The cement-related nicknames are a reference to its origins in a cement company. In 2001 reached the Copa Libertadores final at first attempt.
