The San Jose Earthquakes franchise moved to Houston before the 2006 season. While the team carried over the same players and coaching staff, the Houston Dynamo are considered a new club while the Earthquakes and were restarted in the Bay Area for the 2008 season. Initially named Houston 1836 but renamed to the Houston Dynamo before the start of the season due to protests from the local Mexican-American community. 1836 was the date of Houston's founding but also the year of a war in which Mexico lost control of Texas. There was a semi-professional team named the Houston Dynamos in the late 1980s. The club's logo includes the team colors, soccer ball and a star, symbolic of Houston's location in Texas - The Lone Star State.

I put in Columbia Blue as an homage to the Houston Oilers. But someone else has mentioned the official names of the colors being like you've said. I can change it if Dynamo fans really think it's needed. Let me know.
