Details:

Full Name: Fluminense Futebol Clube
City: Rio de Janeiro
Founded: 1902
Stadium: Laranjeiras (8000)
Colors: Red, Green, White
Nicknames: Nense, Fluzão (Big Flu) or Po-de-arroz
Rivals: Flamengo, Botafogo, Vasco da Gama

Description:

Founded by the Englishman Oscar Cox. A Fluminense is a native of the state of Rio de Janeiro. The nickname 'Po-de-arroz' comes from Flu's historical reluctance to accept players of color (no longer the case of course). Legend has it that some players who could "pass" would lighten their complexion with facial powder. The club's first title is from the unofficial national championship, the Taça Roberto Gomes Pedrosa.

Laranjeiras:

Laranjeiras is the official home of Fluminense but most matches are played at the much larger Maracana, shared by all the big clubs of Rio de Janeiro.
