Description: Formed out of the Irish-Catholic immigrant community of Scotland. Hibernia is the Latin name for Ireland. Hibs are less of an explicitly Irish-Catholic team now, drawing support from all of East Edinburgh. Hibs were the first British team to compete in European competition, reaching the semifinals of the European Cup in 1955-56. Fans are known as Hi-bees (pronounced like High-Bees).
