Description:
Spartak = Spartacus, legendary leader of a slave revolt in the Roman Empire. Known as the "People's Team" and the most popular club in Russia. Throughout its history they were unaffiliated with any governmental or industrial organizations, a rarity in Soviet football and a fact which undoubtedly contributed to their popularity. Founded in Krasnaya Presnya, a neighborhood of Moscow. The Myaso nickname is derived from the club's long-time sponsorship by a meat-processing plant.
