Official Website: steauafc.ro Description:Steaua means Star in Romanian. The club was founded by the Romanian Army and remained the team of the Army throughout the Communist era in Romania. The early club names mean, in order, Sports Association of the Army, Central Sports Club of the Army and Central House of the Army. The Star name was adopted because of its centrality to the club's logo and Communist iconography in general. It was originally a red star but is now yellow which, along with the club's red and blue uniforms, makes up the three colors of the Romanian flag. Steaua are the only club from Eastern Europe to win the European Cup/Champions League, which they did in 1986, beating FC Barcelona on penalties after a 0-0 draw. They were also losing finalists in 1989. They have a heated rivalry with Bucharest neighbors Dinamo and, to a lesser extent, Dinamo. Steaua have won more league titles (23) and cup titles (21) than any other club in Romania. Along with Rapid they are the only club in Romania to have competed in every top-flight season. Stadion Ghencea:The stadium is located near Ghencea, a major street in Bucharest. Previous stadiums - Republicii, 23 August (-1974).
