Description:

Aldosivi was founded on March 29, 1913 in the port city of Mar del Plata by employees of the Sociedad Nacional de Trabajos Públicos de París. This company was involved in the construction of Mar del Plata's port. The club takes its name from the first two letters of the last name of its most important founders - Allard, Doulfus, Sillard y Wiriott. The Wi had to be changed to Vi because the letter W was not available on the telegraph to send official announcement of the club's foundation.

The club's initial colors red, white and blue but were changed to green and yellow after a donation from a shop named Tienda Victoria. The club's nicknames refer to its seaside location (El Puerto - The Port, El Tiburón - The Shark) or their color green (Verde). The club played at a local level until the 1970s, when they began to compete in some of the national-level tournaments (though never yet in the Primera). In 1979 Aldosivi merged with two local Mar del Plata clubs, Banfield and Talleres, and adopted the new name Defensores del Puerto. After promotion back to the national level they returned to the traditional name Aldosovi.
