Description:

Vitória Salvador were founded on May 13, 1899. The initial name was Club de Cricket Victoria. The club's first football match wasn't played until 1901 though this still marks them out as one of the oldest football clubs in Brazil. Vitória means victory in Portuguese. They are referred to here as Vitória Salvador to distinguish themselves from Vitória Setúbal and Vitória Guimarães among others. Within Brazil they're normally known simply as Vitória or maybe EC Vitória. The nickname Leão da Barra means Lion of the Barra. Rubro-Negro means The Red and Black. Matches with arch-rival Bahia are called the Ba-Vi Clássico, the big derby in Bahia. Like many clubs in Brazil, Vitória are a multi-sports club, also featuring basketball, volleyball and futsal teams among others.

Estádio Manoel Barradas - Barradão:

The Estádio Manoel Barradas is named for Manoel Barradas, once a director of the club. It is commonly just called the Barradão - the big Barrada.
