Description:

Back in Liga I after a three year absence is FC Braşov from the lovely mountain city of Braşov. The city is at the very southern edge of Transylvania in the Carpathian Mountains. FC Braşov got its start in 1937 although it had to roll through quite a number of names before finally settling on the nice and simple Fotbal Club Braşov. A few of these and their meanings - Uzinele de Armament Braşov (Braşov Armament Works), Steagul Roşu Braşov (Red Star Braşov), Metalul Braşov (Metalworks Braşov), Energia Braşov (Braşov Energy) and Fotbal Club Municipal Braşov. The club's only title to date is the 1961 Balkans Cup, a not-so-highly regarded tournament for club teams from throughout the Balkans. The year before they had finished second in the Romanian League, their best-ever finish.

The nickname Galbeni-Negrii means The Yellow and Black while Diavolii de sub Tâmpa means the Devils from under the Tâmpa. The Tâmpa is a mountain that overlooks the city. FC Braşov play in the Stadionul Silviu Ploieşteanu, named for a former coach who led them to the previously mentioned successes of the 1950s and 60s. Before being named for Ploieşteanu it was known as the Tineretului, which means youth in Romanian. The club's logo includes a soccer ball, the club name, the city coat of arms, the year of the club's foundation(1936) and the red blue and yellow stripes of the Romanian flag, all on a gold-colored shield.
