Description:

Taking their third bow in Romania's Liga I are Gaz Metan Mediaş from the city of Mediaş in Sibiu County, Transylvania. Their 1947-48 debut season was their best, finishing 12th. Three years later they were losing finalists in the Romanian Cup, their best ever performance in that tournament. It has been second and third division football ever since. The club was long under the umbrella of the Gaz Metan industrial group although confusingly the Gaz Metan company is now known as Armax Gaz while another gas company, Romgaz are financial backers of the club. Gaz Metan have rolled through numerous names over the years, changing as the name of their parent company changed.
