The green, yellow and white of the club emblem and kit are also the colors of the flag of Huila departamento while the nickname opita is given to anyone from Huila or the neighboring province of Tolima. Their stadium, the Estadio Guillermo Plazas Alcid, was originally built in 1980 for the Colombian National Games (athletics championships) and then expanded when Atlético Huila were promoted to the Dimayor.
