Description:

Fútbol is pronounced fuut-bowl. The game is occasionally referred to as balompie, which literally translates to foot ball. Mexico has had a professional league since 1943, and has played two championships per year since 1996. There is currently no overall winner, instead two trophies are awarded each year. There is no longer a cup competition in Mexico, although one was played sporadically until 1997. The national team is called El Tri a reference to the tri-color national colors of red, green and white. The two giants of Mexican soccer are Chivas and América, and their derby is called the Superclasico.

Thanks for the suggestion Luis. For the moment I'm only adding titles won at the senior level but if I change that I'll definitely add those. Congrats to Mexico on a dominating performance.
