Association: Irish Football Association (IFA) Founded: 1880 Joined FIFA: 1911 Confederation: UEFA Colors: Green, White The Game: Football
Description:
Founded as the association for the whole of Ireland, it is the third oldest association in the world. The football association and league included the whole island until 1921, when the southern part of the island became an independent country. Football in Northern Ireland has forever been riven by the bitter Protestant-Catholic split, though some recent rays of sunshine give hope for a positive future in the province.
