Description:

Founded as a fitness and gymnastics in 1860 although the football section did not begin until 1899. The official name translates as Gymnastics and Sportsclub Munich 1860. Die Sechzger means "The Sixties" in the Bavarian dialect, Munich being the principal city of Bavaria. The club's emblem (and nickname) is a lion, a traditional symbol of Bavaria. Reached the European Cup Winners Cup final in 1965.
