Full Name: Association Football Clubs Tubize Official Website: afctubize.be Descripion:AFC Tubize was founded on July 1, 1990 by the merger of FC Tubize and Amis Reunis Tubize, the two largest (and rival) clubs of the town. The history of the FC Tubize dates back to 1919 and its origin in Cercle Sportif Tubizien although its genesis (like most Belgian clubs it seems) is rather more complex. Cercle Sportif Tubizien launched in 1919, relaunched in 1925 and joined the Belgian FA the following year with matricule 622. Club Sportif Esperance Tubize launched in 1953, joined the Belgian FA that same year, and received matricule 5632. The two clubs merged in 1967 as FC Tubize but kept the matricule 5632 of Club Sportif Esperance Tubize. Amis Reunis Tubize was founded in 1974, joining the Belgian FA two years later with matricule 8424. In 1990 FC Tubize and Amis Reunis Tubize merged to create Association Football Clubs Tubize and maintained the existing 5632 matricule of of FC Tubize.
The foundation date of the club is sometimes given as 1953 since they keep the same matricule of the club founded in that year. AFC Tubize then began a steady climb up the Belgian football pyramid, starting with the Brabant Provincial 3rd League (the 7th division). Though Brabant is now separated into two provinces (Flemish and Walloon) it was once unified and remains so for football. AFC Tubize have finally reaching the Belgian First Division for the 2008-09 season.
The club's emblem includes the red and yellow colors of the city of Tubize's coat of arms as well as the eagle prominently featured there. In the bottom right is a soccer ball. AFC Tubize's nickname - Le Sang et Or - translates as the Blood and Gold, a reference to the club colors. Stade Leburton: |
