The first two decades of All Boys existence was spent on friendlies and local amateur competitions, In 1937 All Boys were chosen to be founding members of the Segunda Division in 1937, the first league the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA) sponsored below the Primera. All Boys spent 8 years in the Segunda before relegated to the third division for the first time in 1945.

After three more decades of bouncing between the second and third divisions, All Boys were finally promoted to the Primera for the first time in 1973. All Boys survived seven seasons at the top, finishing in a high of 5th place in the 1974 Metropolitano tournament. After relegation in 1980 All Boys bounced between the 2nd and 3rd divisions (including 2 painfully long 7 year spells in the third) before finally returning to the Primera in 2010.
