Brescia FBC were formed by the merger of three local Brescia clubs - Victoria, Gimnasium and US Bresciana. In 1936 Brescia FBC were forced to Italianize their name by the Fascist authorities, changing to Associazione Calcio Brescia. The name was changed again in 1976 to simply Brescia Calcio, the name they still use today. They have a long history of bouncing between Serie A and Serie B and enjoying healthy rivalries with other northern Italian clubs like Atalanta and Verona. Their only title of note is the Anglo-Italian Cup, won in 1994.
Brescia's emblem includes a lion (prominent in the coat of arms of the city of Brescia) in front of a blue background with the diagonal white V also featured on the club's jersey. The colors of the city of Brescia are blue and white. The V was introduced to the club's uniforms in the 1920s when they began using the stadium of athletics club Virtus. It has remained on the club's shirts more or less ever since. The nickname Biancoazzuri means The White and Blue while the city of Brescia is known as the Leonessa d'Italia - The Lioness of Italy. The nickname Rondinelle means the Little Swallows, a reference to the blue and white bird.
Stadio Mario Rigamonti:
The stadium is named for Mario Rigamonti, one of the players in the Grande Torino who died in the 1949 Superga air crash. He was born in Brescia.
