Cádiz Club de Fútbol was founded by students of La Salle Mirandella, part of the La Salle educational network within Spain and around the world. The official colors of La Salle are blue and yellow and the club chose those as well. The club's emblem includes the mythical Greek figure of Hercules holding two lions with a royal crown at its top, also found in the coat of arms of the city of Cádiz. The nickname Amarillos means The Yellow.
