The Chicago Fire are named for the Great Chicago Fire and the official announcement of the club's launch was actually made on the 126th anniversary of the Great Fire itself. In 2007 Andell Holdings purchased the Fire from Anschutz Entertainment Group, who had owned the Fire since its inception.
Chicago Fire Emblem:
The Chicago Fire emblem is patterned on the emblem of the Chicago Fire Department while also including a C for Chicago and six points at its edge, similar to the six-pointed star in the city’s flag.
Chicago Fire Soccer History:
The first titles in Chicago Fire soccer history came in 1998, when they won MLS Cup and the US Open Cup in the team's debut season, one of only three teams to win the Cup double in the United States. The Fire have yet to win a 2nd MLS Cup but they have been remarkably successful in the US Open Cup. Chicago have won the Open Cup four times, more than any other MLS team and just one shy of the most all-time.
Toyota Park:
In the summer of 2006 the Chicago Fire moved into its own Toyota Park stadium in suburban Bridgeview, IL. The club had spent most of its previous existence in Soldier Field, normally used by the NFL’s Chicago Bears.
