Description:

Koninklijke (Royal) is an honorary title given by the Belgian royal family to every club in Belgium after twenty-five years of existence. Club Brugge represent a more conservative, rural, hard-working ethic, as opposed to their urbane arch-rivals Cercle Brugge and Anderlecht. One of their nicknames - de Boeren (the Farmers) - is drawn from this. Reached the European Cup/Champions League final in 1978, so far the only Belgian club to do so. The stadium is named for Jan Breydel, one of the heroes of the 14th century Battle of the Golden Spurs, a Flemish uprising against the French. Matricule #3.

League Titles:

  • Belgian League (1920, 73, 76, 77, 78, 80, 88, 90, 92, 96, 98, 2003, 05)

  • Belgian Cup (1968, 70, 77, 86, 91, 95, 96, 2002, 04, 07)
