Description:

Elche CF are based in the city of Elche in the province of Alicante near the Mediterrean Coast in the Communidad Valenciana. They return to La Liga for the first time since 1989. Their highest ever finish in the Primera is 5th, which they achieved in the 1963-64 season) and they were losing finalists in the Copa del Generalisimo (now the Copa del Rey) in 1969. Their nickname Ilicitanos is a name given to people from Elche.

The Estadio Martínez Valero (Martínez Valero Stadium) was built in 1976 and originally bore the name Nuevo Estadio Elche CF. in 1988 it was renamed in honor of former Elche CF president Manuel Martínez Valero.
