Description:
Empoli Foot Ball Club were founded in August 1920 and just months later absorbed the football section of Unione Sportiva Empolese. Went through a series of name changes in the 1930s and 40s – including the spectacular Dopolavoro Interaziendale Italo Gambaccioni Sezione Calcio - before reverting back to the name they still use today. Empoli’s emblem includes the façade of the Collegiata di Sant’Andrea, an iconic monument within the city. Empoli have one of Italy's best youth programs, especially for a city with a population as small as Empoli - less than 50,000.
Stadio Carlo Castellani:
The stadium is named for a club legend who still holds the club goal-scoring record. He was killed during World War II in a concentration camp.
