Description:

Founded as Turnverein Flingern in 1895, merged with Düsseldorfer FC Fortuna 1911 in 1912 and adopted the current name. Reached the 1979 European Cup Winners Cup Final.

Esprit Arena:

The Fortuna Düsseldorf stadium is known as the Esprit Arena. Title sponsor Esprit are a clothing manufacturer based in Ratingen, just north of Düsseldorf. Until 2009 the stadium was known as the LTU-Arena, named for previous title sponsor LTU. The Fortuna Düsseldorf stadium is built on the same location as the old Rheinstadion, which was demolished in 2002. Fortuna Düsseldorf played three seasons at the Paul-Janes-Stadion, a much smaller and older venue where the 2nd team continues to play.
