Previous: Gretna Football Club (1946-2008)

Description:

Located on the Scottish/English border and played in the English football system for many years. Joined the Scottish Football League in 2002 and rsubsequently achieved three successive promotions (and three league titles) to go straight from the Scottish Third Division to the Scottish Premier League.

Played the 2007-08 season at Motherwell's Fir Park Stadium as their own Raydale Park did not meet SPL requirements. The distance proved a major problem as crowds plummeted. In addition Gretna's wealthy backer Brooks Mileson withdrew his support. The club's finances disappeared, many players and staff and Gretna limped along to finish the season well back in last place. They initially were relegated to the Scottish Football League Third Division due to various financial problems but then the club was effectively shut down.

Immediately afterwards a "new" Gretna launched and joined the East of Scotland League. For a time matches were played at Everholm Park in the town of Annan but in 2009 Gretna returned to Raydale Park in Gretna.

On the brink of promotion, with 5 to play. Would I be wrong if I were to say we would make it if we won 3 of these, lost 1 and drew 1;that 10 points are all we require?

Looks like you might be right Eric.

Craigroyston only have 1 match to play so they can only get a maximum of 48 points. 10 points would also put you at 48. Looks like Stirling University, Veil of Leithen and Leith Ahletic could all still equal 48 points. But maybe they have some direct matches which reduces that chance?

A bit much math for me at this moment but good luck!

You've got the exact location of the ground wrong. It is on the west side of Dominion Road just north of Loanwath Road. And no, we didn't get promotion. Next season
