Details:Full Name: Ipswich Town Football Club Description:The club was originally called Ipswich AFC to distinguish itself from the existing rugby-playing Ipswich FC. The two clubs merged in 1888 and adopted the name Ipswich Town FC. They turned to a full-time football club five years later. Ipwsich Town joined the Football League in 1938, after playing in the Southern Amateur Football League, the Eastern Counties League and the Southern League. Their matches with arch-rival Norwich City are called the East Anglian Derby. The Blues won the Football League in their debut First Division season. The club's emblem includes a Suffolk punch (a horse typical of Suffolk where Ipswich is located) and the turrets of Wolsey Gate (an important historical building in Ipswich). Portman Road:The stadium is located on Portman Road in the city of Ipswich.
