Description:
Iraklis = Hercules. In 1899, Syllogos Filomouson Thessalonikis, a cultural and music club, was founded. A breakaway group wanted to add sports and created a new club Makedonikos GS. The football section was created in 1908. Renamed AS Iraklis Thessaloniki in 1912. Money to build the stadium was given by the Kaftanzoglio foundation.
