The full name Athlitiki Enosi Larisa translates to English as Athletic Union of Larisa. Larisa were formed as a merger of many local Larisa clubs - Aris, Toxotis, Iraklis, Larisaikos, Pelasgiotida, Panthessalikos & Doxa Emporoypallilon. Larisa are the only club outside of Greece's two cities (Athens and Thessaloniki) to win the Greek championship.
