Description:

Lech Poznań are named for Lech, the legendary founder of Poland. This name was adopted in 1957 and, though it has become the name by which the club is typically known, was actually only its eighth. The club was originally named Lutnia Dębiec. Lutnia means "lute" in Polish and, besides being an instrument was a popular type of choral group in Poland at the time, though its social importance seemed to have gone far beyond singing. Dębiec is a suburb of Poznań. This name lasted only a few before a change to Liga which means "league" or "club". The name changes came rapidly but from 1933 onwards tended to be a variation of Kolejowy Klub Sportowy - Railway Sports Club. The club have been associated with the trains ever since and one of their nicknames - Kolejorz - means Railwaymen in the local dialect. Their nickname Pyry is also local dialect, in this case Potatoes as the inhabitants of Poznań and the potato in general is a symbol of Poznań.

Stadion Miejski - Bulgarska:

The stadium name Stadion Miejski translates as City Stadium but is more commonly known as the Bulgarska as it is located on Bulgarska Street.

The stadium of Lech Poznań was completely rebuilt for the 2010-11 season and will be one of the venues at Euro 2012.

Previous Stadiums: Boisko przy ulicy Grzybowej (1922-34), Stadion na Dębcu (1934-80). During this time they also used the Stadion Edmunda Szyca and the Stadion Olimpii.
