Description:

Sporting Lokerene merged with K. Standaard FC Lokeren in 2000 and als merged with K. Sint-Niklase SK Excelsior in 2003. Although they were mergers, the club is technically still the original Lokeren. Oost-Vlaanderen (East Flanders), which appears in the club's official name, is the Belgian province where Lokeren is located. Koninklijke (Royal) is an honorary title given by the Belgian royal family to every club in Belgium after twenty-five years of existence. Belgian football clubs receive an honorary identification number at the time of their foundation called a matricule. They're given sequentially so the smaller the number the older the club. Sporting Lokeren are matricule # 282, quite old!
