Description:

Ludogorets Razgrad are the latest incarnation of professional football in the northeastern Bulgarian city of Razgrad. The club traces its ancestry to the 1945 merger of 5 Razgrad clubs, though like many Bulgarian clubs it has gone through a dizzying array of name changes, bankruptcies and reorganizations. Ludogorets have spent their entire history in the lower divisions of Bulgarian football until winning their way to the Bulgarian First Division for the first time in 2001.

 

The team is named for the Ludogorie region of northern Bulgaria, of which Razgrad is the principal city. Ludogorets is the name for a person from from the Ludogorie.

Ludogorets Arena:

The Ludogorets Arena (known as the Dyanko Stefanov Stadium until May 2011) is in the midst of an extensive modernization to meet UEFA standards by 2012.
