Olimpo = Mt. Olympus of Greece. Founded October 15, 1910. Two other options for a name were Libertad and River, but Olimpo were chosen in a vote. Colors were chosen by one of the founders, a fan of Uruguay's Peñarol, who share the colors. Part of a multi-sports club as are most Argentine clubs though unusually the basketball team is the most important and successful.
