Full Name: PAE Panthrakikos Komotinis Official Website: panthrakikos.com Description:From far northeastern Greece comes Panthrakikos, who make their Greek Superleague debut in the 2008-09 season. The club's name translates as "All Thracian" - Pan-Thrakikos. They are based in the city of Komotini, the largest city in the Greek section of the region of Thrace, which also stretches into Turkey and Bulgaria. In the 2001-02 season Panthrakikos were competing in the 2nd division of the Thrace regional league, effectively the sixth division of Greek football. Panthrakikos was founded in 1963 by the merger of Orfeas Komotini and AE Komotini. In 1999 Panthrakikos merged with another Komotini club Xylangis to create Panthrakikos-Xylangis although the name reverted to Panthrakikos three years later. The full club name is PAE Panthrakikos Komotinis. PAE stands for Ποδοσφαιρική Ανώνυμη Εταιρία (Podosferiki Anonymi Eteria) which translates as something like "public football company" and is an acronym shared with most football clubs in Greece. The club's emblem includes a torch (symbolic of Greece's role in sports - ie the Olympic torch) and the club's colors of green, gold and white. Komotini Stadium:Panthrakikos play in the Komotini Stadium, which was newly renovated in the summer of 2008 to meet Superleague Greece requirements. Floodlights were installed for the first time in the stadium's history.
