Description:
Founded March 25, 1903. The founders wanted an original and attractive name, and found one in the title of a French automobile magazine. Founded as a merger of Football Club Barracas al Sur and Club Colorados Unidos del Sur. Unlike many of the early clubs of Argentina, the vast majority of their members were native Argentinians, not English. Based in the Avellaneda district of Buenos Aires. Won seven titles in a row in the amateur era, a run that has never been equaled. This period in particular their Academia nickname, ie the Academy of Football. Have traditionally had a relatively elite fan base, and were the favorite club of the Perón family. The stadium is named after Juan Domingo Perón. One of Argentina's 'Big Five'.
