Description: Formed in 1923 by the merger of CFR (Căile Ferate Române) and Excelsior. CFR is the Romanian national rail service. Its original fan base was railway workers and was based near Bucharest Gara de Nord railway station. The stadium is still in that area and is named for a former Rapid manager who led the club to its first title. It often carries the nickname Giuleşti after the neighborhood in which it is located.
