Description:

The club known as Murcia Fútbol Club was launched in 1908. In 1920 under the leadership of president Ramón Ángel Cremades the club changed its name to Levante Fútbol Club de Murcia and began entering official competition, including the Copa del Rey. Levante is the name of the eastern coast of Spain. Although Murcia isn't on the coast it's a part of the Levante. The club received royal patronage from King Alfonso XIII in 1923 and adopted the name Real Murcia.

The emblem of Real Murcia incorporates a crown symbolizing its royal patronage and seven gold crowns on a red background, a central part of the city of Murcia's coat of arms. The deep red of the club's colors is also found in the official flag of the city.
