Description: Founded by a group of boys who played in the yard of the Santa Cruz church, on Santa Cruz street in Recife. The first club in Pernambuco state to accept black players. The colors and look of the club's jersey is said to resemble that of a coral snake, giving the club the nickname "cobra coral". The stadium takes the name of the Recife neighborhood in which it is located.
