| Spartak Plovdiv |
|
Description:Evolved from three earlier Plovdiv clubs - Septemvri, Levski and Udarnik. Spartak is a reference to the Roman slave hero Spartacus. This reference also explains the club's nickname - Gladiatorite (The Gladiators). In 1967 Spartak, Akademik and Botev Plovdiv were merged into a new club - Trakia Plovdiv. An independent Spartak did not re-emerge until 1982. Merged with Sokol 94 in 1998 and were renamed Spartak-S '94. This remains the club's official name although they played the 2001-02 season as Spartak. Stadion Todor Diev:The stadium is named for the club's all-time greatest player Todor Diev.
