Description:

Founded on January 1, 1910, next to a railroad station named Vélez Sársfield. Dalmacio Vélez Sársfield was an Argentine lawyer and politican who wrote the 1869 Argentine Civil Code, much of which is still in use today. Based in the Liniers neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The stadium is named for a former club president, who served in the capacity for over thirty years. The Fortín (The Bunker) nickname of the stadium comes from the club's supposed impregnability at home.
